NONGSTOIN: One Pranab Baruah (52), a senior optometrist at the Nongstoin Civil Hospital, was apprehended and later handed over to the Nongstoin Police Station on allegations of molesting a 16-year-old girl on Monday.

As per the statement of the girl who hails from Siejlieh, Nongstoin, the doctor had allegedly attempted to molest her when she had visited the hospital for a diagnosis. When her turn for the check-up came, the doctor initially checked her and then asked her to lie down on the bed. The doctor then attempted to touch her in an indecent manner. When she shrugged, the doctor let her go and asked her to return the next day.

However, she informed her parents about the incident. The family members then informed the KSU (Siejlieh Unit) and the Seng Longkmie, who went to Upper New Nongstoin, where the doctor runs a clinic (Nongstoin Opticals) and apprehended him.
