4 KSU activists arrested

SHILLONG: Police on Wednesday arrested four KSU volunteers for allegedly pelting stones and burning a truck during the road blockade called by 10 pro-ILP groups on Tuesday night.

The four arrested KSU volunteers are David Nongkhlaw, Baianeh Wankhar, Lamborlang Lyngdoh and Kironstar Mawrie, all hail from Laitkor areas.

Section 144 CrPC promulgated: Meanwhile, fearing escalation of violence during the road blockade hours and office picketing by various pressure groups demanding the implementation of the Inner Line Permit, the East Jaintia Hills District Administration has issued a prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC.

The prohibitory order issued has banned the disruption of vehicular movement all along the NH-44 and obstruction of government employees from attending offices.

The order has also restricted the accumulation of people more than three persons in any of the government offices and along the National Highways.

The order will come to force with immediate effect until further notice. (With inputs from Our Jowai Correspondent)
