SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister and Mawkyrwat MLA, Rowell Lyngdoh has turned down the demand of the KSU South West Khasi Hill to respect the decision of the people regarding implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the State citing such demands as ‘problem-driven agendas’ to disrupt law and order.
Rejecting the demands made by the KSU, Lyngdoh on Saturday said “This is a democratic country and they (pressure groups) are allowed to raise their voice but decision on any issue lies entirely with the people.”
It is not up to a group of activists to decide and demand for any issue which is against the wish of the people. “We understand the public better and if they are concerned about the welfare of the public, they should think twice before affecting the daily bread and butter earners of many households who are the sufferers of these agitations,” lambasted the deputy CM.
The KSU South West Khasi Hill on Friday asked the three MLAs of West Khasi Hills- Rowell Lyngdoh (Mawkyrwat), MM Danggo (Ranikor) and PN Syiem (Mawsynram) to support their demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the State.
ILP favouring parties to hold meet on Tuesday
SHILLONG: The KHNAM has called upon all like minded parties to discuss and deliberate on the present scenario in the State considering the failure of the Government in implementing the Inner Line Permit (ILP).
“We feel that there is a need on the part of political parties who support the implementation of the ILP to come together in order to device strategies to pressurize the Government in implementing the ILP,” KHNAM general secretary Batkupar Wahlang said in a statement here on Friday.
Wahlang requested the political parties to attend the meeting at Shillong Club on September 24 at 1 pm to deliberate on the issue.
