SHILLONG: Continuing their positive form in this year’s Shillong Premier League, Nangkiew Irat defeated MLP 2-1 at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, on Tuesday.
Nnamdi Stephan Harry put Nangkiew into the lead in the 11th minute before Barland Syngkon equalised via a penalty just before halftime in the 44th minute.
The second half did not see a further goal until the 90th minute when Nnamdi scored his second of the match to give Nangkiew Irat three points.
Nangkiew’s Baskhem Shanpru was named Man-of-the-Match.
Nnamdi now has four goals this season, tied at the top with Rangdajied United’s Shin Hojun.
Nangkiew now have 10 points from four games and sit second in the table behind Rangdajied, who have 12.
The police team have lost all four of their matches thus far and are at the bottom of the standings, but at least they have a goal now, thanks to Barland.
On Wednesday, third-placed Langsning will take on Malki.
