SHILLONG: Langsning FC continued their run of drawn games in the Shillong Premier League after their match with Malki SC ended 1-1 at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, on Wednesday.
In this match, the 15th of this season’s League, Langsning took the lead in the seventh minute via a goal by Reisang Pemmi Kosomwoshi, but Malki’s Debinroy Nongspung equalised in the 29th minute and the two teams played out the match without further goals.
Malki looked the stronger side in the second half and had numerous opportunities to take the lead but failed to convert any of them.
Speaking to the press after the match, both teams’ coaches admitted that their charges could have performed better.
Indeed, the two teams have to start winning more of their matches if they want to challenge Rangdajied United and Nangkiew Irat, who are first and second in the points table, respectively.
This result leaves Langsning with six points from four matches.
While they won their first match against Mawlai 4-0, they then experienced two goalless draws against Pohkseh and Nangkiew.
Malki have earned five points now, having drawn against defending champions Royal Wahingdoh before beating MLP and losing to Rangdajied.
Malki occupy fourth place in the standings, one behind Langsning, but that could all change on Thursday when Wahingdoh, who have four points, take on Mawlai SC at 3:15pm.
Mawlai have yet to win a game this season, but are a place ahead of MLP, who have lost all four of their matches so far.
