Hyderabad: A day after the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister urged the Congress leadership to take back the decision to bifurcate the state, party general secretary Digvijaya Singh Saturday said there was no question of a rollback.

He told reporters that the Congress Working Committee (CWC) took a decision after consultations with all and after near-unanimity among all political parties.

Digvijaya Singh is also in charge of Congress affairs in Andhra Pradesh.

“Before the CWC took the decision, all senior leaders from Telangana and Seemandhra unanimously said they would abide by the decision of the high command,” Digvijaya Singh said.

“The decision was taken after near-unanimity among all parties. Parties like TDP, YSR Congress and BJP can go back on the decision but a national party like Congress can’t go back,” he said.

When asked about Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar’s remarks about him, Digvijaya Singh said he would react after going through the statement.

Reddy had Friday said that Digvijaya Singh was not permanent general secretary of the Congress and mocked claims that all issues raised by the anti-bifurcation people were being looked into.

Digvijaya Singh Saturday reminded Reddy that he was chief minister of the whole state. “He is the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh which has not yet been divided. He should be acting as chief minister of all those people who elected the Congress in 2009,” he said. PTI)
