Meeting

The Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya will meet on October 2 at 12 noon at the office of John F Kharshiing, at Lumjingsuk, Demthring to discuss the letter from Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India addressed to Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, the KHADC Village Administration Bill 2013, the need for a KHADC clan Bill and also the prevailing situation arising out of the NGO’s agitation in the State.

Durbar

The 17th Durbar Pyllun of the Seng Kur Warjri shityllup (Ri Khasi & Jaintia) will be held on October 12 at Mairang (West Khasi Hills District). In the Durbar, meritorious students of the area who secured positions in the various examinations conducted by the board, CBSE and ICSE will also be felicitated. Students are requested to submit their marksheet to the members before October 5.

Gandhi Jayanti

Gandhi Jayanti will be observed at Raj Bhawan Durbar Hall on October 2 at 10 am.

Cleaning drive

  1. The Seng Samla Kharmalki (Malki) will organize its 52nd cleaning drive on October 2 from 8am till 2pm.
  2. A cleaning drive will be held at Iewduh on October 2 from 8 am to 10 am as a part of the Chief Minister’s Youth for Green Campaign Movement.

Blood Donation Day

The Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) in collaboration with Meghalaya State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC) will observe voluntary blood donation Day with a month long campaign under the state level observation of National Blood Donation Day on October 1 at Don Bosco Youth Centre at Laitumkhrah.

Notice

  1. In pursuance of the Supreme Court direction, the state government has issued an order directing the general public including individuals, educational and research institutions, hospitals, industries, government departments and public sector undertakings or sellers that seeks to regulate the sale of acids and corrosive substances. The order further stipulates that the undertakings which are required to keep and store acid are to follow certain guidelines.
  2. The chief electoral officer, Meghalaya has informed that the Election Commission of India has extended the period of filing of claims and objectives up to October 15 instead of October 1 during the special summary revision of electoral rolls in the state with qualifying date as January 1, 2014.

College week

Lady Keane College, will celebrate its annual college week from October 1-9. As part of the occasion, the College will felicitate meritorious students on October 9.

Free training

The coaching-cum-guidance centre for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Shillong will conduct a training programme free of cost for the unemployed Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe candidates appearing for the written examination for recruitment through Staff Selection Commission and other upcoming examinations to be conducted by MPSC, DSC and other recruitment agencies. Training will conducted from October 7 to November 15.
