Priyanka likely to enter active politics

Lucknow: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the star campaigner of the Congress during the past several elections in Uttar Pradesh is likely to enter into active politics.

There are enough indications that Priyanka could contest the coming Lok Sabha elections replacing her mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi from Rae Bareli though there is no official word on the matter.

Presently Priyanka is working intensively to strengthen the Congress organization in Rae Bareli and even took interviews to select the district party office bearers. She has now also been given the task to strengthen the party organization in the adjoining Amethi district,the parliamentary constituency of her brother and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. According to sources Priyanka could don the shoes of her mother from Rae Bareli due to the Congress president illness.

There is also a speculation that Rahul could move to Rae Bareli and Priyanka would contest from Amethi, as Rae Bareli is a Prime Minister’s seat.

“Priyanka’s increase in her visit to Rae Bareli in the recent times and also sparing time to go to Amethi is an enough indications, showing that the brother and sister duo could contest the parliament elections this time,” sources added. (PTI)
