Kolkata: On his own admission, he is a fighter and Yuvraj Singh strongly believes that this fighting spirit will help him play a few more years of international cricket.

“I am hopeful of playing for few more years for the country,” Yuvraj said at a programme here.

The left-handed allrounder has been included in the 15-man squad for the Twenty20 International and the first three matches in the seven-match ODI series against Australia at home.

Noting that his passion for the game got him back, after being detected with rare germ-cell cancer, he said, “I’ve always been a fighter and the inspiration to fight cancer comes from the game and the passion for the game. Attraction of the game has got me back,” said Yuvraj.

He said that detection of cancer is a life changing experience and it needs lot of strength and courage to fight it.

“It’s not easy its a fight within yourself. It’s a life-changing experience…Only mothers know what their children go through…it’s a personal battle…you need a lot of strenght and courage,” he said.

While he heaped praises on his senior team mates Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj said he has always looked upto his first captain Sourav for advice. (PTI)
