SHILLONG: Community and Rural Development Minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday informed that the draft of the Socio-Economic Census (SEC) data in respect to East Khasi Hills would be published within October 15.

“After publishing the draft list, the process of claims and objections and their disposal, which may take approximately 60 days from the date of publication, will be undertaken. Thereafter a final list will be published,” Tynsong said while replying to question raised by HSPDP legislator Ardent Basaiawmoit on the first day of the Autumn Session here.

He also informed that the process of merging the SEC data with the National Population Register in respect to East Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, West Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills was still on.

While replying to a supplementary question by Basaiawmoit, Tynsong said that the government would try to come up with the final list of SEC data at the earliest.

Earlier, the HSPDP legislator from Nongkrem said that the name of many genuine BPL families have not been included in the BPL census of 2002. Basaiawmoit urged the government to, if possible include them in the BPL list pending the finalization of the SEC data.
