SHILLONG: In a daring incident, a local taxi driver allegedly kidnapped his passenger, a 16-year-old minor girl, when she boarded his taxi (ML-05H-0926) from Jingkieng to Police Bazar, and took her Shillong Peak and sexually assaulted her.
The incident which took place on September 29 at around 2.30 pm was reported to the police only on Sunday evening.
According to the FIR, the minor girl had boarded the local taxi from Jingkieng to go to Police Bazar. However, the driver forcibly took her to Shillong Peak and raped her. Later, at around 5 pm, he dropped her at General’s Point in the city.
Police have been unable to explain the delay in filing of the complaint, but assured that the matter would be clear once the driver, who is absconding, is caught.
