HILLONG: The BPL housing complex project at Lower Mawprem is yet to take off due to the failure executing agency (Hindustan Prefab Limited) to implement the project, Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh informed the House on Wednesday.

“At the moment, we are carrying out the inventory. We have also asked them (Hindustan Prefab Limited) to submit all their documents. We hope to complete the exercise at the earliest,” Lyngdoh said while replying to a question by UDP legislator Paul Lyngdoh during the Question Hour.

Once the inventory is completed, she said the department would go for re-tendering of the project as per the procedure.

“We have set a deadline to complete the project within March 2015,” Urban Affairs Minister said.

She also denied that the funds allocated for the project have been diverted.

MUDA ISSUE: Replying to an another question, the Urban Affairs Minister said the department has not reinstated the services of the two casual employees of Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) office in Byrnihat since their services were no longer required. “We had made our stand very clear before the RBYF that the two employees be given opportunities in ongoing projects in Nongpoh,” Lyngdoh said while replying to a question by UDP legislator Paul Lyngdoh on Wednesday.

She also said an agreement was arrived at after a series of meetings including a meeting which was convened by former Chief Minister DD Lapang, who represents Nongpoh in the Assembly.

Earlier, the UDP legislator had sought to know on what basis the Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) had come to an agreement on the matter with MUDA.
