SHILLONG: The UDP has sent feelers to the HSPDP on formation of an alliance of regional parties to field a common candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“We have already sent feelers to the HSPDP on the matters related to a common candidate for the Lok Sabha elections,” UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh informed on Friday.

The UDP will also have a separate meeting in the early part of November to discuss the general elections.

At present, though the HSPDP is in the Opposition, it is not part of the Meghalaya People’s Front.

The MPF consists of eight UDP members, two from the NPP, and one from the GNC, besides two Independent legislators.
