Over two thousand students to get digital tablets in Tura

TURA: Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma will be handing over digital tablets to over two thousand higher secondary students of Garo Hills at Tura Chandmari playground on the 18th of this month.
With “Digital empowerment” being the keyword the tablets are being presented under the Digital Learning Aid for Students’ Scheme under the Information Technology department.
As many as 2183 tablets have been received for distribution to the students of Classes XI-XII of the 2013-14 academic session in Garo Hills, informed authorities.
This is the second leg of the government project to arm higher secondary students with digital learning aids to help them in their studies and classes.
Similar learning aids were distributed for students of several schools in the Khasi Hills region, recently.
The distribution of the tablets would not be limited to Tura alone but also the far flung areas of Garo Hills with students from remote areas including Tikrikilla expected to arrive in Tura to receive the government learning aid.
Special arrangements for transport of students from outside Tura is being arranged to ferry them in time for the programme which will be participated by students of schools and colleges, parents, teachers, heads of institutions, elected representatives and senior government officials.
