Dr Valensha Surong, Director of Misison Trust Eye Care and Dr SP Saikia, medical director has been awarded with the prestigious Orbis International medal by Dr Robert F Walter, Chairman Orbis EMEA for the best presentation, for her research study on, childhood blindness in Meghalaya in the Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons in Amsterdam in October 2013.

The Shillong Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services, organisers of the Meghalaya Bible Convention 2013 has requested the various NGOs to exempt October 25, 26 and 27 from any agitational programmes as a mega bible convention would be held on these days from 9 am to 4 pm.

Cleaning Drive

The Seng Kynthei Lumdiengjri of Shillong will organize a cleaning drive on October 19 as part of the Youth for Green Campaign Movement launched by Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma recently, with an objective to increase the forest cover, improvement of environment and ensuring clean localities.

Annual Meeting

The General Secretary of the Cherra Bosconian Union (Past Pupils), an organisation of the Don Bosco Past Pupils of St. John Bosco Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Sohra will hold its annual meeting scheduled on October 20 from 10.00 a.m. onwards. Among other issues to discuss, the meeting will also plan in advance for the forth coming ‘Golden Jubilee Celebration’ in 2018.

Meeting postponed

The Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Municipal Board has informed that due to unavoidable circumstances, the proposed public consultation meeting with shop owners of Police Bazaar to be held at 11am on October 19 at Hotel Alpine has been postponed. A new date will be announced later.
