SHILLONG: Shillong’s very own 4th Element is placing another feather in their cap by representing India in Jazzmandu, one of the world’s talked about International Jazz festivals.
The 11th Annual Surya Nepal Kathmandu Jazz Festival popularly known as Jazzmandu will feature artistes from France, Cuba, USA, India, Nepal, Switzerland, Holland and The Netherlands and is scheduled to be held from October 22-30.
4th Element will be brushing shoulders with many seasoned jazz musicians including individual artistes and bands like Cadenza Collective, The Claudia Quintet (USA), Joint Family Internationale, Ellaine Amherd (Switzerland), Mike Del Ferro (The Netherlands), Yaite Ramos Quartet (Cuba) and others.
4th Element’s spot in Jazzmandu is a symbol of pride for Shillong’s Music Community. Band members including Ribor Mb, Sam Shullai, Jeff Laloo, Sarah Lee, Amit Mulick are all geared up to take this international stage. Keyboardist and founder of the band, Ribor Mb says, “Jazz has always been an important element apart from the other elements of funk, rnb and soul.” we hope Jazzmandu will be our gateway to many international stages in the future. We want to do this for Shillong and India”.
Jazzmandu’s mission is to bring quality jazz to Nepal, transcend cultural boundaries, and spread the message of peace and compassion through music. Jazzmandu, which began in 2002, is annual event organised by Upstairs Ideas Pvt. Ltd. Over the years, the festival has successfully promoted jazz in Nepal and brought world-class musicians to audiences in Kathmandu.
It has helped in enriching lives, promoting creativity, encourages the sharing of international sounds and ideas, pushing the limits and boundaries of musical expectations. Cultural interaction among people of different nations can take many forms, and the Kathmandu Jazz Festival is one exceptional and unique way to bring together the diverse talents and energies of the most creative people.
