Police trade fire with dacoits

SHILLONG: Police exchanged fire with highway dacoits who were extorting money from coal trucks and private vehicles at Gabil Bisa, East Garo Hills on Thursday night.

According to Police at around 12.30 am on Thursday highway patrol party from Rongmil OGC, intercepted unidentified armed miscreants extorting money from coal trucks and private vehicles at Gabil Bisa. The miscreants opened fire at the Police following which the security-men retaliated. However, the miscreants managed to escape. No casualty has been reported.

East Garo Hills SP JFK Marak confirmed that the miscreants were dacoits.
