SHILLONG: The National Fair Finale of the India Innovation Initiative (i3) saw 45 best-in-class innovation entries at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi on October 17. Overall, i3 saw more than thousand plus innovation entries this year.
The entries were further shortlisted to participate in the regional fairs organized at NOIDA (North), Mumbai (West), Kolkata (East) and Chennai (South) in September. Bamhum was the only entry selected from the Northeast for the Fair at Kolkata. Bamhum was one of the seven best entries selected to represent the East at the 5th National Fair.
At the National Fair in New Delhi, Bamhum was selected along with five other innovators by Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), Dept. of Science & Technology on the basis of technical feasibility and market potential of the innovation.
TIFAC will assist and support Technology Refinement and Marketing to these six innovators.
Bamhum is a new wind bamboo musical instrument invented by Moa Subong from Dimapur, Nagaland which was unveiled by the then Meghalaya Governor MM Jacob at the International Bamboo Festival at Shillong on May 3, 2005. i3 is the successful partnership between Agilent Technologies, Department of Science & Technology (DST) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to create and sustain an ecosystem of innovation and encourage innovators of all ages and backgrounds.
A jury panel comprising eminent industrialists, reputed incubators partners, scientists, business management experts and government representatives came together to evaluate each of the finalists’ entries.
The initiative is being supported by government and non-government incubator and investor associations for incubation, entrepreneurship and marketabill.
