SHILLONG: The St. Dominic Savio Church, Mawlai Parish, is observing its year-long Platinum Jubilee from October 27.
Archbishop of Shillong, Rev. Dominic Jala, Sdb, will declare the celebration open by hoisting the Jubilee Flag at 10 am. Guest of honour and Health Minister, AL Hek, will unveil the commemorative plaque.
The Holy Mass would commence at 10:30 am and the occasion will conclude with the Marian Procession at 1:30 pm.
The one-year celebration will continue till October 26, 2014, with the implementing of different programmes, being prepared by the various sub-committees.
The organising committee comprises of the chairman cum-Parish Priest, Fr. Roland Kharkrang, Sdb, and secretary Francis Kharhunai. The constituent sub-committees have chalked out intensive programme for implementing during the Jubilee celebration. For this special occasion a separate emblem has been approved together with the motto ‘Come the Lord calls you’.
Among the important milestones of the Platinum Jubilee will be creation of the new parish at Umbir in Ri Bhoi by detaching it from the Mawlai Parish and the ordination of a new local priest from Mawlai
