Army will lay down their lives to defend Kashmir: GOC

Jammu: Praising the role played by Brigadier Rajinder Singh and his team members who laid down their lives to defend Kashmir in 1947, a senior Army officer on Sunday said that Army personnel will lay down their lives to defend Kashmir.

“Brig. Rajinder Singh and others have laid down their lives in past. Like them, Army will lay down their lives to defend Jammu and Kashmir,” General Officer Commanding (GoC), 16 Corps, Lt Gen D S Hooda said, while addressing on the occasion of 66th Infantry Day here.

Lt Gen Hooda said, “We, the Army personnel, want to assure you (people) that, whether we are posted in the hinterland or on borders, we will perform our job with dedication.

“You should have confidence and trust on us that we will do our job with high morale and we will not think for a minute before laying down our lives for the defence of the country and Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

On the occasion of 66th Infantry Day, Major General Ashwani Kumar, General Officer Commanding of Tiger Division, today laid wreaths at the J&K State Forces War Memorial and Tiger War Memorial in Jammu Cantonment.

A grand and solemn memorial ceremony was organised with full Military honours. (PTI)
