Shortage of teachers grips Nagaland
Kohima: While the Nagaland Governor has stressed on quality education, a shortage of teachers, especially in Mathematics, Science and Hindi is prevalent throughout the state, although state Education Minister CM Chang has announced the bringing in of teachers for the above subjects from outside Nagaland, even though nothing has been done so far. In the last Nagaland Assembly Session, which concluded on July 22, one ruling party member also raised the question during the Discussion on Budget, informing the House that there are only a few teachers in Mathematics, Science and Hindi and appealed to the Education Department to appoint teachers on the above mentioned subjects. According to some of the senior bureaucrats of the Nagaland Government, during an informal chat with this correspondent, they disclosed that the Central Hindi Directorate under the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development is also neglecting Hindi education in Nagaland by withdrawing many facilities, for which the students failed to learn the subject properly.
