Management to shift focus on strengthening the U-19 squad

SHILLONG: Langsning FC have decided against participating in the I-League Second Division 2013-2014 season.

Langsning FC had participated in the last three seasons of the Second Division I-League. In the last season, the Club, who was locked in the same group as Rangdajied FC, missed qualifiying for the I-League after standing third in the group behind Rangdajied and Mohammedan Sporting.

Informing about this development on Thursday, Langsning FC secretary Banteidor Lyngdoh said that the team has decided not to take part in this season as they wanted to divert their attention to the process of strengthening the team.

“We have already submitted a letter to the AIFF in this connection,” Lyngdoh said.

He also lamented that the team has so far had a disappointing outing in the ongoing Shillong Premier League and there were apprehensions that the team might not even end in the top-four bracket.

“We have made efforts to improve the team. But we are not getting the desired result. We are planning to come up with some new strategy to rebuild the team,” the Langsning FC secretary said.

He, however, confirmed that Langsning would participate in the Federation Cup and Bordoloi Trophy next year.

“We would continue to build the Under-19 squad which would serve as the senior team in the near future,” Lyngdoh said.
