SHILLONG: An inconsistent Meghalaya Police Football Team suffered yet another loss on Thursday, going down 0-2 against Nangkiew Irat in their Imperial Blue Shillong Premier League encounter at the JN Sports Complex here.

The first half of the match proved to be a dull affair apart from a goal from the boots of Daiananda Singh who scored from inside the box to put Nangkiew in the lead seconds before the half-time whistle.

As the match resumed after the break, Nangkiew played out an offensive game with the MLP failing to keep pace.

Apart from Niwan-O-Gatphoh, none of the MLP players posed any real threat and they were forced to play on a defensive mode for most part of the match.

An 88th minute goal by Nangkiew striker Nambi Stephen Harry sealed the fate of the match while leaving out any chance for the MLP team to make a comeback, despite their efforts to put up a fight.

On Friday, MLP will play their second match in as many days against Mawlai at the JN Sports Complex at 2:45 pm.

John Paul scores two for Mawkhar

John Paul Mylliemngap scored two goals on Thursday as Mawkhar ensured a comfortable 2-0 win over Qualapatty in their Third Division match at Polo Grounds on Thursday. John Paul scored his first goal in the 10th minute and followed it up with a second in the 58th minute to give his side a well deserved three points.

In Friday’s Third Division match, Rynjah and Nongrah will lock horns at Polo Grounds at 1 pm.
