Public meeting at Shallang

NONGSTOIN: The Shallang Area Labour Association (SALLA) will hold a public meeting at Nongdaju, West Khasi Hills in order to regulate the non tribal labourers working at Shallang on November 11 at 10 AM.

K Nongsiang, general secretary of SALLA told pressmen here on Friday that that the meeting would discuss the issuing of identity cards to all the tribal people who work as labourers under SALLA and they said that they won’t allow any non tribals to work in Shallang area without an ID issued by the SALLA.

He also said that this policy is to ensure the longevity and protection of the tribal communities in the whole Shallang area.

The SALLA also urged all members under the banner of SALLA to attend the public meeting.
