SHILLONG: The Joint Action Committee of All Teachers’ Associations of Meghalaya (JACATAM)   ED Nongsiang has rued that the frequent agitations were affecting a section of students who had to submit their SSLC forms for the next year’s examinations.
Speaking to The Shillong Times here on Monday, Nongsiang said that those students who failed in the SSLC examinations this year were finding it difficult to fill up the forms due to bandhs.
“We would appeal to the MBOSE to make some consideration for the students,” he said while adding that many students have complained about their difficulties to him since the Board is quite strict in this regard.
According to Nongsiang, repeater students could not submit their forms on October 17, 21 and 22 due to the bandh.
When asked if the agitations were taking a toll on the school students, he said that agitations are affecting students to some extent but the impact is reduced with agitations being called in the later part of the day.
It may be mentioned that students of many schools will sit for their final examinations this month amidst agitations.
The latest of the agitations called by pro ILP groups starts on Tuesday with a night road blockade and it will continue for the next two days.
Nongsiang said that the he has not made any appeal to the NGOs to call off the agitations during the examination time.
He also stated that the Government must invite the NGOs and matter should be sorted out through discussions.
