Suicide in Jaintia Hills

JOWAI: One Donbok Challam (68) of Panaliar Jowai committed suicide by throwing himself into the Mutong river which is a part of the Myntdu river.

Some fisherman spotted a body floating on the river on Tuesday morning and informed the police who fished out the body at around 10 am. Sources have indicated that the deceased was suffering from prolonged illness and had been in a state of depression that might have prompted him to take his own life.
