SHILLONG: In its bid to avoid discrimination in monitoring traffic in and around the busy streets of Shillong, Shillong Traffic Police is keeping track of all vehicles no matter what their registration number is.
The same was witnessed on Wednesday when the Laitumkhrah and Madanryting Traffic Branch caught as many as 15 SPTS buses proudly bearing the government’s registration of ML 01, for violating traffic norms.
These government buses were caught for embarking and disembarking passengers in non-designated areas of which, Rs 4500 was realized as fine. There have been complaints about the unruly behaviour of SPTS bus drivers. Most passengers feel the drivers and conductors should wear a name plate for easy identification in case of misbehaviour.
