Guwahati : An aristocrat resort set in a wonderful natural setting in Sonitpur district of Assam is what has been chosen by Bollywood’s mega star Aamir Khan to celebrate the birthday of his wife Kiran Rao in the company of their toddler son and a group of close friends.

Khans must be the most high-profile visitors to set feet in Assam, a state bestowed with mesmerizing natural beauty and rich tribal culture and traditions, so far this tourist’s.

After arriving at Tezpur airport on Thursday , Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao and their friends drove straight to exclusive ‘Wild Maseer’ resort at Balipara in Sonitpur district.

They have been provided with adequate security cover by the district administration.

“It has always been in the mind to visit Assam and enjoy some time with its people. We have basically come here to celebrate the birthday (today) of my wife Kiran. We will be here in Assam for seven days visiting different destinations including Kaziranga National Park famous for its one horned rhinoceros. I will like to meet people of Assam and know about their life and culture,” Aamir Khan said.

The high-profile tourists visited a Mising tribe village this afternoon to have a feel of the place and enjoy time with the villagers.

When asked if he was planning to shoot a film on enchanting Kaziranga National Park, Aamir said, “As on date there is no new plan in my mind. I have just come to spend time in Assam, meet and enjoy company of people of Assam.”

When dawn to spurt in the incidents of poaching of one-horned rhinoceros in Kaziranga National Park in Assam ,Aamir said, “ Conservation is an issue all over the world and everyone should be concerned about it.”

Because of the negative publicity Assam gets outside for violence related to insurgency, very few high-profile people barring politicians, show interests to visit the State to have a fell of its beauty and rich culture though not a single tourist has been touched by insurgents in the state.
