Plan to include NCC as elective subject in schools, colleges

NCC conference begins in city

SHILLONG: A three-day Group Commanders’ Conference of National Cadet Corps Directorate North Eastern region commenced here on Monday.

The conference is being chaired by Major General RK Sharma, Additional Director General NCC, North Eastern Region.

Eight Group Commanders of NCC Directorate, NER are participating in the three-day conference.

The issues concerning the social and training activities carried out by the organization to motivate the cadets of NCC in NE States are being discussed in the conference.

Deliberation will take place on the Republic Day 2014 Contingent preparation showcasing the social and cultural panorama of the seven states.

Other subjects being discussed in the conference will be increase in enrolment of cadets including girl cadets to widen the coverage of NCC in all districts of the seven states of the NER, review of suggestions given by the cadets on training based on existing continuous system to make it more meaningful and interesting.

Discussions will also be held on the proposal to introduce NCC as an elective subject in all schools and colleges from the next academic session.
