UP govt employees continue with strike

Lucknow: The indefinite strike called by an Uttar Pradesh government employees’ association over their demands, including removal of “anomalies” in salary entered the second day today, with the state government not making any move to reach out to the strikers.

President of Rajya Karamchari Sanyukt Parishad Hari Kishore Tiwari claimed that nearly 18 lakh employees of different departments and belonging to 250 small and big unions were participating in the strike.

He said stenographers association and ministerial staff of chief medical office extended their support to the strike. Work remained suspended in several offices, including Jawahar Bhawan, Indira Bhawan and health directorate, he said. “So far, there is no indication on the part of the government to hold talks,” Tiwari said. If the government does not concede to their demands, some employees of essential services, including roadways, power and health would also join the agitation from November 15, he said. (PTI)
