SHILLONG: Emphasizing on good governance, Cooperation Minister HDR Lyngdoh said that a successful institution is linked to good governance and leadership stating that these characteristics can overcome any challenges in the present context.
Addressing a gathering during the 60th All India Cooperative Week Celebration held on November 14 by the Cooperation department in collaboration with State Level Cooperative Federations at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Lyngdoh laid emphasis on good governance terming it as a characteristic of any institution.
“Leadership is the most crucial factor for the success of all the people organisations,” he said adding that in the present context of economic globalization and challenges before cooperatives, the role of cooperative leaders assumes an added significance.
The function was attended by eminentcooperators and representatives from different types of cooperative societies in the district and adjoining areas. Speakers who spoke on the occasion dwelt on the theme, ‘Cooperative for Socio-Economic resurgence in Changing Times’, which is part of the main theme, ‘Cooperative Governance, Leadership and Reforms’.
