SHILLONG: The Delimitation Committee constituted by the KHADC has been given an extension till the first week of December to submit its report.

The Committee was earlier asked to submit its report by November 23.

“The Committee sought for an extension since the time given by the Council was too short to complete the exercise,” a member of the committee, on condition of anonymity, said on Sunday.

According to the member, the Committee conducted the first public hearing at Nongpoh on Saturday, and added that the second public hearing would be held at Mawkyrwat on Monday.

“The third public hearing would be held at Nongstoin on Nov 22 to be followed by the final public hearing to be held at the District Council’s office on December 2,” the member informed.

The member also revealed that the Committee, through the delimitation exercise, wants villages to be attached to the constituencies in their respective districts.

“We would not want a village under South West Khasi Hills to be attached to a constituency in East Khasi Hills,” the member explained.

When asked about the outcome of the public hearing at Nongpoh, the member said
