Pregnant woman, relative drown

SHILLONG: A pregnant woman and her cousin drowned at Umiew Pomlakrai near Assam Rifles Public School on Monday afternoon. According to police, the pregnant woman identified as Iardahun Suting (22), wife of Lastonwell Kharkongor of Umiew Pomlakrai, went to fetch water from a pond inside her residential premises but slipped into the pond and drowned. The woman’s cousin, Kilanson Marbaniang, 23, also tried to help her but he too drowned, police said adding her husband also tried to save her but was pulled out of the pond
