SHILLONG: Watching football match is a better option than sitting before the ministerial committee to discuss the draft Tenancy Bill for the majority of people of Khliehriat.

The second ministerial committee meeting scheduled at Khliehriat on Friday to discuss the Bill has been postponed due to the football match in Shillong.

A member of the committee and Congress legislator Ronnie V Lyngdoh said that the committee postponed the meeting following a request from another member of the committee Justine Dkhar representing Khliehriat that most of the people will not be available at Khliehriat since there is football match in Shillong between Shillong Lajong and Rangdajied.

The committee faced a humiliation on Wednesday during the first meeting due to the protest from the students who said that the bill does not mention anything about the ways and means to control influx.

Though the football match is the immediate reason for postponing the meeting, sources said that the ministerial team wanted to prepare themselves to avoid facing any embarrassment in the upcoming meetings.
