Pune FC rally to hold Salgaocar 1-1

DULER (GOA): Pune FC came from behind to hold Salgaocar to a 1-1 draw in a 10th round I-League match here on Friday.

The draw keeps the Goans at the top with 18 points, while Pune, having played a game less, have 17.

Salgaocar took the lead in the fourth minute through Darryl Duffy, capitalising on the error from Gurjinder Kumar, who back-headed the ball to his goalkeeper with Duffy lurking in the area. The striker pounced and beat keeper Amrinder Singh.

Pune earned a penalty when Salgaocar’s Chika Wali brought down Douhou Pierre inside the box and Mustapha Riga converted in the 61st minute.

On Saturday, Mohammedan Sporting will host Churchill Brothers, Sporting Clube de Goa are away at Bengaluru FC and Dempo will take on United SC. (PTI)
