State’s cultural diversity on grand display at IITF

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Directorate of Information and Public Relations on Monday organized a cultural evening during the ongoing India International Trade Fair (IITF), 2013 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

Information and Public Relations Minister AL Hek graced the occasion as the chief guest in the presence of Parliamentary Secretaries J Dkhar, R Syngkon and S Mukhim, DoNER Secretary UK Sangma, Director of Information and Public Relations HM Shangpliang, Joint Resident Commissioner, Meghalaya House HM Shangpliang and other officials from the State.

Cultural artists from the State enthralled the audience with their presentation of cultural dances and songs showcasing the rich cultural diversity of the State.

Later, the dignitaries visited the Meghalaya Pavilion and interacted with the officials and entrepreneurs who are participated in the IITF.

The Meghalaya Pavilion at the IITF is represented by Agriculture, Horticulture, Commerce & Industries, Tourism, Forest, Soil & Water Conservation, Cooperative Societies, MHHDC, MKVIB, Fishery departments while the Directorate of Information and Public Relations is the nodal Department.

Apart from the Government Departments around 20 entrepreneurs drawn from various parts of the State are participating in the IITF for showcasing their indigenous products and also promotion of the tourism potential of the State.
