Pig nuisance forces new directives in Tura

SHILLONG: Concerned over the nuisance created by pigs, the Tura Municipal Board (TMB) has asked the residents to stop illegal rearing of pigs in Tura.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, TMB, there are complaints of some people rearing pigs in their residential compounds causing nuisance in the locality. “Unauthorized and unhygienic rearing of pigs within the municipality area will be checked by enforcement staff of Tura Municipal Board in compliance with the provisions of the Meghalaya Municipal Act, 1973”, an official statement said.

The officer has also asked the residents to stop illegal rearing of pigs in Tura municipality within the first week of December in the larger interest of the general public, health and hygiene “failing which necessary legal action such as fines, seizure and sale through public action will be imposed”.
