Assault on Jalaphet Rangbah Shnong

SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong of Jalaphet Bri Sumer along with the KSU Jalaphet Unit has decided to call for a 12-hour bandh on November 30 in the area in view of the recent assault on the Rangbah Shnong of Jalaphet Bri Sumer, Ken Syrti who succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.

“This bandh is called to mark our protest against the murder of our headman recently and this bandh will only be effective in areas within the jurisdiction of Jalaphet village” former Rangbah Shnong H Chyrmang said.

The bandh will prevent all shops from being opened and all local taxis and coal loaded vehicles from plying the streets except for some private vehicles who will ply on the day.

“We urged the shop owners and all the resident to cooperate with us and to come out in large numbers to pay last tributes to Syrti and to accompany the family members to the cremation ground, where his body will be cremated,” KSU Jalaphet unit president Emmon Chyrmang.
