New Delhi: The Centre proposes to set up one College of Agriculture in Meghalaya.
This was announced by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Thursday.
He said the Centre also proposes to set up one College of Horticulture each in Mizoram and in Sikkim, College of Food Technology in Manipur and College of Veterinary Science in Nagaland.
Pawar said this at the conference of agriculture and horticulture ministers of north eastern states in Gangtok.
Pawar said the Northeastern states need to take up palm oil cultivation in a big way to reduce India’s dependence on edible oil imports and to benefit the farmers in the region. (PTI)
