SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will not hold the customary winter session this month, despite the suggestion of President Pranab Mukherjee to have frequent sessions which he had made in his address to the State Assembly in October.

In the past years, winter session used to be held in December before the House adjourned for the Christmas and New Year vacation.

An official source from the Assembly Secretariat said there was no order from the Government to hold the winter session in December.

Though there would not be any winter session, there is a plan to hold the next session a little early, sometime in February, the source said.

Though the Assembly had held its last session in October, the Government should have fixed a few days in December to discuss the huge number of pending issues, the source added.
