Kids’ group clears level one and two of India’s Got Talent
SHILLONG: The resounding success of the Shillong Chamber Choir has encouraged a group of talented but young artists, the ‘Khmih Shillong Group’ comprising of children between the age group of 9 to 12 years, who have cleared the first two hurdles to display their talent at the national level.
The Group consists of ten singers and four musicians under the leadership of Royal Suting and Andrew Marwein.
The Khmih Shillong Group has cleared the audition round of the much-popular India’s Got Talent during the Kolkata audition on September 27 and has also made it past the Judges’ round at Mumbai on November 29.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Royal Suting admitted that the competition being very tough, the children have to practice very hard to reach the finals of the show.
Suting said the inspiration to participate in India’s Got Talent was drawn from the success earned by the Shillong Chamber Choir, and ‘there is no better place in India than Mumbai to display one’s talent’.
The group is scheduled to travel to Mumbai in January to compete in the next rounds of the popular talent hunt show.
According to Suting, the judges of the show including filmmaker Karan Johar was quite impressed with the talent of the children and he was full of appreciation for the kids.
While admitting that Hindi language would be a test for the Group, Suting said that the children have been asked to perform on a Bollywood song and they are trying very hard to get themselves acquainted with the language. “The children are quite good when it comes to the Hindi language,” he quipped.
He added that the group is keen to perform on a traditional song in the reality show.
Meanwhile, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal and President of the Meghalaya Judo Association have also wished success to the Khmih Shillong Group.
