‘State violated SC directive’

SHILLONG: The State Government is not following the Supreme Court directive which made three per cent reservation for people with disabilities (PWDs) mandatory for jobs in the public sector.

Pointing this out during a press conference here on Monday, state coordinator, National Trust, Belbora Wankhar said the Supreme Court had even directed the State Government to submit a report on the same.

“The National Trust has not seen any such report as yet,” Wankhar said ahead of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities on Tuesday.

She advocated a single window agency where PWDs can express their grievances. Wankhar lamented that Meghalaya till date does not have a data of the population of PWDs.
