Inter-school boxing tourney commences

SHILLONG: The two-day District Level Inter School Boxing Tournament kicked off at the Indoor Sports Hall, Mawlai Mawroh, on Tuesday.

The Meghalaya Boxing Association (MBA) president inaugurated the event in the presence of East Khasi Hills District Sports Officer GE Lyngdoh.

Altogether 64 boxers including 50 boys and 14 girls representing different schools are participating in the event.

Some of the results of the bouts that took place in the various categories on the first day of the tournament: Mickystar Lyngdoh (Mawryngkneng HSS) defeated Balapdiang Khyriem (St Francis Desaile) 30-33kg, Shaiborlang Lyngdoh (St Gabriel SS) defeated Vivek Biswa (Gorkha SS) 33-36kg, Eistein Kurbah (OM Roy SS) defeated Sunil Limbu (Gorkha SS) 36-39kg, Daniel Rani (Seng Khasi SS) defeated Raymondlang Mawa (Sacred Heart Boys HSS) 36-39, Maybeful Biam (Wolley Roy UPS) defeated Anshuman Shretha (Jail Road Boys SS) 39-42kg, Shanborlang Marbaniang (Sanshnong SS) defeated Wanlambha Kharsati (Nongdawah LP school) 44-46kg and Wanlamkupar Nongkynrih (Urmasi Ujoh, Smit) defeated Lumlang Synnah (Pliti Syiem SS) 52-54 kg.

The final bouts in the various categories will be held on Wednesday.
