SHILLONG: New Friends Union (NFU) and Manipur won their respective quarterfinal matches at the Shillong Cricket Association’s Platinum Jubilee T-20 Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday.
NFU defeated Nagaland by five wickets. After winning the toss NFU decided to field and Nagaland put up a challenging total of 166/2 in 20 overs. Man-of-the-Match Hokaito Zhimomi scored 88 runs off 63 balls, while Bishu and Purojit took a wicket each.
In reply, NFU made 169/5 in 19.1 overs. Raj Biswa scored 38 runs off 29 balls. Michael Longkumar took two wickets for Nagaland.
In the second match, Champ CC Manipur also beat United XI by five wickets.
Manipur won the toss and decided to field first. Swarajeet Das scored 31 runs, while Jodiba and Premchand took two wickets each.
In reply, Manipur reached the target in 17.4 overs. Man-of-the-Match Prafullo Mani scored an unbeaten 68 runs off 54 balls and Rajendra GC took four wickets for United XI.
The next matches will see Royal CC play Kolkata Club while Malki CC go up against Guwahati Club.
