Bodies of minors recovered

SHILLONG: Police on Thursday recovered the bodies of two minor children from Umthumthum river, Mawlai.

Their clothes were found on the bank of the river on Thursday after which Fire and Emergency Rescue Team searched under the water and recovered their bodies.

The two minor children have been identified as Bondonnam Kharsyntiew (14) and Pawan Konwar (12).

“It is believed that they died of drowning while swimming, however enquiry is still under way to ascertain the facts,” police said.
