One hurt in blast inside wine store

JOWAI: A manager of a wine store in Ladrymbai Khlieh-dupon in East Jaintia Hills sustained critical burn injuries in an explosion inside the shop at around 6:15 pm on Tuesday.

According to the police, some people noticed smoke emanating from inside the wine store and alerted the owner Ms. Anasthesia Susngi, who deputed her manager Dilip Kr Rai, to look into the matter.

When the manager tried to pull the shutter, a blast occurred inside the wine shop, police said. The victim was rushed to hospital with the help of 108 Ambulance. Medical reports have confirmed that the victim has suffered 85 per cent burn injuries.

Police have stated that the incident had no connection to the ILP bandh in the district. The initial loss has been pegged at Rs 4 lakh.
