Militants surrender in Garo Hills

TURA: A militant belonging to the UALA surrendered before the police in West Garo Hills on Saturday.

The militant identified as Grith G Sangma (28), however, did not deposit any arms, police said.

The surrender of the militant hailing from Damjongre, Selsella, was facilitated by the Baptist Church.

On Friday, an ANVC-B cadre identified as Geidon G Momin hailing from Soksan, Mendipather, had surrendered in Tura. He was the ‘area commander’ of North Garo Hills.

On his lead, one 9 mm pistol and 5 rounds of ammunition were recovered from Damas, police added.
