SHILLONG: Congress supporters of Mawkynrew constituency have unanimously decided to support the candidature of Kansing Lynshiang for the upcoming District Council polls.
In a meeting at Mawkynrew on Friday, it was decided that the Congress unit would write to the party’s State leadership to allot the Congress ticket to Lyngshiang, who is a popular social activist of the area.
“We would want the party to allot the ticket to Lyngshiang,” senior Congress worker Pynshai Bina said during the meeting.
He said that they would want the party to allot the ticket to someone who hails from the area since he would have better understanding of the problems faced by the local residents. “We would strongly oppose any attempt to allot the ticket to an outsider,” Bina said.
Another senior Congress worker, P Synri, who is also the Sordar of Nongjrong village, said the Congress would have a strong chance of winning the election if they allot the ticket to Lynshiang.
