Police warns action against drivers

SHILLONG: Police have warned action against the drivers of tourist taxis and Sumos for overcharging passengers bound for Guwahati and  other places by taking advantage of the rush by people wanting to go home for Christmas vacation.
The East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang said on Sunday  that such overcharging amounts to extortion.
The police, while warning the drivers that legal action will be taken against them also asked the passengers to file  complaints against the harassment.
