Christmas celebration begins

SHILLONG: The celebration of Christmas began on Tuesday by the Christians with special midnight mass and church services in the State.
The faithful thronged various churches to celebrate the birth of Jesus through prayers.
People exchanged greetings after the prayers in various churches.
The church services and mass will continue on Wednesday in many churches in the State.
Besides putting up stars, churches, houses and buildings were illuminated.
Despite the worsening law order situation in Garo Hills, there was large gathering of the faithful in many churches for the midnight service.
The adverse weather condition in Shillong did not prevent the church goers in attending church service on Tuesday night.
The city’s major commercial places like Iewduh and Police Bazaar on Monday evening were crowded by people who were carrying out last minute shopping.
There was huge traffic jam in the city roads especially towards Police Bazaar and Motphran throughout the day.
